Local Cleveland artist, Shelly Svonavec, creates fine art paintings and mixed media pieces loosely reminiscent of various nature elements. Ideas mostly inspired by sky, sun, & water, Shelly works in an intuitive and experimental manner with the intention of connecting to and resonating with the viewer.
Her goals don’t only lie in creating art but in working as an educator- reaching the youth through multi-disciplinary workshops meant to develop & inspire throughout the creative process. She hopes to connect to her students by leaving a lasting impression in the development of each child. Currently, Shelly is a Master Teaching Artist for the Center for Arts-Inspired Learning, an incredible non-profit for the arts- bringing arts enrichment to areas of need in Cleveland.
Shelly has her Bachelors of Fine Arts from Bowling Green State University and has taught visual arts professionally in Charlotte, North Carolina. Since moving back to Cleveland in August of 2017, Shelly has grown in the creative community with a Solo Exhibition at the Beck Center, murals throughout Ohio City, various group shows and displays, live painting performances for the Gordon Square Arts District, and commissions for private collections. She has recently opened her new studio at the Hildebrandt Building located in the Clark/Fulton neighborhood. Click here to read more about the studio.
"My need to learn has always driven who I am. To understand, to empathize, to fix. I unearth aspects of emotion and atmosphere through my art that is otherwise is impossible to explain. Through an intuitive process I am able to experiment on every piece, losing myself in the problem solving along the way." Soulstice, 2018
